Louis DeAngelis

Program Director

My name is Lou DeAngelis and I am the Program Director at Camp Birch Hill.  This will be my 6th summer working at Birch Hill.  I graduated from Lyndon State College of Vermont with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Management and a minor in Marketing. My mission in life is to have as much fun as possible in whatever I am doing.  This is why I love working with our team at Camp Birch Hill where it is literally our job to create an unforgettable fun filled summer for all of our campers!

When I am not at camp I spend my time Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking and Skiing. The last few years I have made it my goal to be able to do these things as much as possible while on the road.  The last two years have brought me on a 6 month road trip across the United States in an old school bus, an adventure through Southeast Asia, as well as a journey through Central America backpacking from Mexico to Costa Rica visiting 7 countries along the way.  The past few winters I have also held positions in the Ski Industry working in Telluride, Colorado and Taos, New Mexico.

I am looking forward to seeing old faces from our return campers and meeting our new campers this summer!  We have tons of fun planned and can’t wait to see everyone!

Sadie Graham

Waterfront Director

My name is Sadie Graham and I am the Waterfront Director here and this will be my sixth summer at camp. I went to Westfield State University to study Movement Science Sport and Leisure Studies where I concentrated in Physical Education as well as Wilderness Leadership.  Following my graduation I was a physical education/health teacher in Westfield MA for a year, and then taught PE just shy of 3 years in Easthampton MA.

While working in a consistent, stable job, I found I was ready for MORE, I wanted to live some of the dreams that I have had and through working at camp I have been able to do just that. Traveling is very important to me; I have been to Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. There are 184 more countries I haven’t been to and I hope to continue to see and experience more! Other things I enjoy are scuba diving, water skiing, hiking, rock climbing, taking on new hobbies and learning new skills as well as dreaming up some new ideas to keep me busy.

I was never a camper aside from one recreational day camp when I was in 5th grade. I wanted to work at a summer camp when I was in college and after trying out a different camp for a summer and discovering Camp Birch Hill, I fell in love and have been here since. I am so excited for another summer here because this is one of those unique places in the world where you are accepted, loved, and encouraged to be the best you there is and to inspire others to find that within as well. I am so excited to see familiar faces, welcome our newcomers and have a wicked awesome summer! Yahoo!

Sarah Ferguson

Photographer/Social Media and Marketing Director

Hi everyone,

My name is Sarah, many people here call me Ferg. I am the photographer/social media and marketing director at camp. I am half American and half Kiwi (New Zealander). My parents loved sailing and traveling so the first two years of my life were spent living on a sailboat in the Bahamas. After that we moved to New Zealand. I came to America when I was 10 and spent 9 years in New Hampshire. Now I travel back and forth between countries each year with my partner Joey (one of our chefs).

This will be my sixth year working at camp, however Birch Hill and the Morell family have been a special part of my life since childhood. I am constantly on the move and spend most the year when I’m not at camp traveling around in my 1977 Toyota Chinook camper visiting national parks, or working for art departments on Films, Commercials and TV shows back in NZ.

I went to the University of Otago for my undergrad where I received a BA in Anthropology and the University of Auckland for my post grad where I received a Master in Creative Writing. Being the social media/marketing director and photographing our campers having the time of theirs lives while they’re here is the most rewarding job. There’s nothing quite like the candid moments where kids are laughing and smiling with each other. I use a long lens so I don’t interfere with these special moments because they are so beautiful. I’m really looking forward to this summer. Seeing all our camp families again and meeting all our new ones is always so wonderful.

See you all very soon!
