Camp Update 05.20.2020

Dear Camp Families,

Today, we announce with great sadness and profound disappointment that Camp Birch Hill will not be operating scheduled sessions this summer.  As painful as this decision was to make, we are confident we have made the responsible decision with the health, safety and wellness of our camp community and greater communities in mind.  In the end it was a straightforward decision, though that does little to fill the void that a summer without camp leaves. Our hearts are heavy knowing we will not be welcoming campers and staff this summer.  

Arriving at this conclusion has been harrowing for everyone involved. We have analyzed the influx of information, talked with experts, created then modified countless plans, pondered and debated and developed possible solutions seeking a pathway forward to open responsibly. It will take time for us all to properly mourn the loss of camp this summer. Our camp friends will be unsettled for a time. Let us embrace expression of our emotions and validate this loss. In time, the Birch Hill spirit will prevail.

We look ahead to the future with enthusiasm and hope many families will choose to roll over payments to next summer. All families have the option to apply monies paid to next summer, convert some or all of them to a donation to Camp Birch Hill or receive them back in full. The details on each option is below. Please be patient with us while we process the request of each individual family. 

We now turn our attention toward how to best support our campers, staff and families without a season at camp. Birch Hill will not be offering a virtual program this summer, but we will remain committed to you, engaging with our campers, encouraging everyone to enjoy nature, explore and create. We are confident that together we will work through this and Camp Birch Hill will be back to providing the lifelong memories, friendships and enriching experiences that all children need. The future is bright.

REFUND, CREDIT and DONATION OPTIONS
All refunds will be issued via original payment method.
1. You may have a refund of your full payment minus transaction fees. 
2. You may credit all or a portion of payment towards a future summer session.*
3. You may choose to donate the $500 deposit, or any amount of your choosing, to help our family business manage year round operating expenses that are owed regardless if camp opens.
Remaining monies can be refunded or applied toward a future summer session.

*Families that are paid in full and choose to roll over full payments towards next summer will be locked in at the 2020 enrollment fee rate. Due to inflation and increase in operating costs for next summer we will need to raise prices. If at any point your family is unable to attend you will be eligible for a full refund.
