Staff 2018: The Chefs and Nurses of Camp Birch Hill

Monday, June 4th, 2018

Greetings Birch Hillers! It’s Monday, which means more of our blog series featuring our Staff of 2018! This week we are introducing you to the wonderful people who will be keeping your bellies full with delicious food, who will be there to give you bandaids and most of all who will be there to keep you healthy and happy. These incredible people are the heart and soul of camp and without them Birch Hill just wouldn’t be the same. So without further ado, here are our camp Chefs and Nurses for the summer of 2018!

OUR CHEFS:

Will Hosken

Hey everyone!  I’m back and ready to line Wildwood Cafe at Camp Birch Hill with the tastiest of grub to supercharge our days! My name is Will and I’m beyond excited to say I’ll be returning to one of the best places on Earth, Camp Birch Hill.

Grub is my thing and I always look forward to sharing food or culinary knowledge. Year round when I’m not at camp I cater weddings, tournaments, and events ranging from 50 to 500 people alongside a full functioning restaurant.

I’ve been coming to camp every year for the past 11 years, making this one number 12! What can I say I love love love the atmosphere! My favorite things at camp are snorkling with a net and flippers, sneaking carrots to the horses shhh.. and camping under the stars. You can see other galaxies here. To just list three is an understatement!

My life at camp and outside camp is very similiar. My days consist of doing what I love and having fun. I’m a lover of playing sports and games. I like to read. I love to garden especially things you can’t buy in the grocery stores!

I love to help change the world, even if it may be only small influences at a time. Help it to regain sustainability in the food and agriculture sections. I just want to help!

Can’t wait, let the countdown begin!

Joey Zarick

Hello, my name is Joey Zarick and this will be my third year working in the kitchen at Camp Birch Hill. I grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania where I excelled in baseball and hacky sack. However, it wasn’t until my freshmen year in high school that I discovered my true passion – music; more specifically – guitar playing. I now have a BA in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, where I focused on song-writing, jingle writing and music education. I am currently the co-founder and singer/song-writer/guitarist of the Boston based band – The Indobox, alongside musical colleague and Camp Birch Hill director of operations, Michael Carter. When I am not playing shows or working at camp, I am traveling the country with my partner – Sarah Ferguson in our 1977 Toyota Chinook or spending time together in New Zealand, as well as working on our film production company – Unknown Legends Entertainment.

At camp, you’ll mainly find me in the kitchen slaying dishes and assisting our talented chef, Will Hosken. I’ll also be on the courts in between meals playing knockout, dodgeball and pickleball with the campers and counselors, as well as in the fields playing birchball and home-run derby. I am also known as the Simon Cowell of judges at the lip-syncs, so campers… beware and prepare! Yahoo everyone, and let’s have yet another amazing summer at Camp Birch Hill!

OUR NURSES:

Shannon Jeski

Hello my name is Shannon and I’m from Pembroke, NH where I currently live now. I studied at Manchester Community College, SNHU for my Bachelor of Science and I am currently working towards my Master’s Degree. I worked for many years at Concord Hospital and I am in my second year employed at St Paul’s School. I love the lake, boating, fishing and lounging with a good book. Traveling with my family is one of my favorite things! Last year we went to Mexico where we swam with manatees, snorkeled three different reefs and karaoke’d our hearts out. Nursing is my passion and I love learning about modern medicine and the amazing things it does. I am a trivia buff and compete with my girlfriends once a week a a local spot. This is my third year at Camp Birch Hill and my kids and I hope to return for many, many years. We will be there for Session One and half of Session Two.

Jenilee Supree

I live in Rollinsford, NH and during the year I work as a nurse at Lawrence Public Schools and Shortridge Academy. My kids Brayden and Kayla and I are looking forward to another year at Camp Birch Hill. See you all soon!
