Session 2 Update! Campers and staff got a fantastic opening day last Sunday with people from around the world coming together as members of the Birch Hill Community to kick off Session 2 of Summer 2013. Screams of reunion met with smiles of people getting just introduced for over 200 kids to get together Orientation gave new campers a chance to get acquainted with the camp grounds and old returning campers a nice refresher on where the big spots are – namely the stables, the (newly redone!) rock wall, the dodgeball arena, and of course the waterfront. B-Day got its start in camper’s activities – ranging from backyard games to theater to music, rock wall to soccer, LAX to backyard games, and photography to the waterfront. “Personal Choice (PC) Activities” rounded out the activities for the day including Birch Ball, Poetry, Rock Wall, the waterfront being opened, an outdoor music jam session, and Wizard of Oz musical auditions. H-Day continued much like B-Day and we are so grateful to have all the smiling, happy faces back (or newly) at camp! Evening programs thus far have been capture the flag, counselor hunt where lucky counselors were assigned to cabins to be dressed up like trees, foxes and hounds where campers chase each other to grab “tails” for each individual, a fantastic night of cabin cheers, a great game of Dutch Auction (where campers brought random items to see if they could get points if that item happened to be called), the DANCE Friday night, and finally Egyptian Water Polo. “Egyptian Water Polo was really exciting,” Savannah Salitsky, Cabin I, said of EWP, “in a great way for soccer players to shine.” The week commenced this morning with a great cove with PC’s including rehearsals for the musical, a soccer tournament, PC “motivators,” fashion design, slackline, and horse bathing! CAMP IS AWESOME! This entry was posted on Sunday, July 14th, 2013 at 6:17 am and is filed under BH Resident Blogger – Natalie, Summer Updates, Uncategorized.
