We are less than two weeks out from the start of Session 1 and camp is looking amazing!  All of the cabins have had a touch up of paint, the pine needles and leaves have been raked and all sorts of yearly maintenance is wrapping up.  This week we will be busy getting camp all set up for a middle school field day on Thursday, followed be the arrival of our fantastic counselors on Sunday.

This year we will be welcoming 34 counselors to Birch Hill.  16 are returning for another year of fun, some having worked here a few years now, and we have 18 staff new to working at Birch Hill, some of them being former campers!  Being a counselor is a great summer job that is a lot of fun, but also takes a lot of responsibility.  All of our Birch Hill counselors are here because of their individual skill sets in teaching different activities at camp, as well as their love of working with children and having a positive impact on their lives. 

Our counselors are generally college age or older and come from all over the world!  This year we have counselors from the United States, two counselors from Italy, a counselor from England, a counselor from Spain, and two from New Zealand!  

Starting on Sunday, our counselors will be going through what is known as Pre-camp at Birch Hill.  Pre-camp is essentially a week for our counselors to learn about Birch Hill and learn and practice new teaching skills in their perspective activity areas.  On top of this all of our staff go through the Birch Hill counselor handbook which will give everyone an idea of what to expect come session one.  At this time some of our all-star veteran counselors will share all of their tips and tricks that they have learned over the years while working here at camp.  By the end of this week, all of our counselors will be more than prepared to create an extremely fun, memorable and safe time for your campers while they are here attending Birch Hill.
